Good News!

Subject: Good news!

Hello again,

First of all, I want to say your outreach to me is truly awe-inspiring!! Thank you so much for your concerns, prayers and offers to help. I appreciate it more than you’ll ever know. I’m sorry I have not been able to personally respond to so many of you. Please know that your encouraging words are uplifting.

Tonight Mark and I spent over 3 hours with the surgeon. What an amazing man to devote so much time & energy explaining every detail & answering all our questions. I’m over-saturated with information and decisions to be made. However, I wanted to give you an update.

The good news is that based on the PET CT scan, the cancer has not spread to any other part of my body. Victory!! Since I have multiple locations of cancer on my right breast and in one lymph node, he is recommending a mastectomy & chemotherapy. There are two suspicious areas in my left breast that will require a biopsy unless I choose to have a bi-lateral mastectomy to further eliminate risks. I am planning to have surgery sometime the week of March 23 and then start chemo in mid-April.

The other good news is that we can proceed with our spring break plans to visit my brother, his wife and their new baby girl in San Antonio, TX. Hooray!

Unfortunately, my surgeon is recommending I not compete in the Tri for the Cure. However, I’m not giving up on that yet. I might do the duathlon and walk it. Worst case, I will volunteer and cheer everyone else on. Go Team!!!

Thanks again for your show of support and love. With your continued encouragement and the grace of God, we will beat this together.

Love, Shannon
