This is how you look just before you head out for a 60 mile bike ride on a brisk January morning in AZ. He rode to Casa Grande and back with a bike club. Just another day in his training for Ironman. Last weekend he ran a half marathon on Saturday and 45+ mile bike ride on Sunday. On February 20th, he'll do a full marathon....Lost Dutchman....assuming his knee and IT band stay healthy. I'm coming to learn....not yet accepting.....that injury is part of the game. It happens to everyone....from weekend warrior to the pro athlete. Ya gotta dig deep.....physically and mentally......and focus on the bigger picture. 
A couple weeks ago we had a small fleet of firetrucks respond to a smoking refrigerator in our neighbor's house. You would have thought several houses were burning to the ground....must have been a slow day. The kids thoroughly enjoyed it! Yeah for CHD FD!!!! 
The Grand Canyon............the beauty never ends. We hiked to the bottom again this winter with the boys. Lois isn't quite old enough yet so was spoiled at Granny & Pops' house instead.

At the end of December, we went to the circus!! A small Italian circus came to Chandler. It was an intimate experience creating many memories for the kids......even on a cold, rainy evening.....we were dry and cozy in the tent. Check them out. zoppe.net. 
The freeze came to town, too! Brrr! We had to pull our 2 lonely oranges off our baby orange tree. 
Our annual trip to the zoo on New Years Day had to be bumped up 24hrs because of our trip to the canyon. It was a cold morning at the zoo. We never tire of going....it's always a new experience. Happy New Year!
