Yesterday I saw my surgeon for a follow-up on my surgery. It was an uneventful appt. He drained some fluid off my chest that was collecting after the drains were taken out. We discussed in more details the procedure to put the port in on Friday. I had some anxiety about the port, but I am much more comfortable with the idea now after talking to a dr friend of ours and the surgeon yesterday. The device will sit completely under my skin on my chest. I told him I want it clear of my backpack straps so I can still hike and carry a pack. I am hiking the Grand Canyon in Feb2010 with Mark & the boys. I will mark the strap clearance on my chest on Friday so the surgeon can place it towards the center of my chest. I should be home by noon & will update you then.
11 days until the Tri for the Cure. I rode 8 miles and ran 1 mile today with two friends. It's fun to ride with friends. Thanks, girls! We have 23 women signed up to compete with our team! What a great group of women! And just as important are the more than a dozen folks coming out to volunteer. I'm so excited to share this fabulous experience with you all. Whether you come out to compete, volunteer, cheer or donate....I'm so thankful for your support.
If you would like to donate, please check out this site.
Shannon,
ReplyDeleteIrene and I are still sending up prayers for you!
My mother had a port put in her chest. After a few days she really didn't notice it.
We hope that you and the AZ Brodniks have a wonderful Easter!
