On Sunday, our oldest son celebrated two Catholic sacraments of confirmation and first eucharist. We spent several months preparing for this event. It was a very special day for our family. Thanks to everyone who celebrated with us. They grow up so fast.
On Friday, I had another session of physical therapy. It has made such a difference for me. I love going to those appts. It's almost like a mini spa treatment.....well not quite, but it sure feels good! Also, on Friday I had the first of many blood draws. I will have to give blood once per week for the next 18+ weeks to check my counts. Oh, joy!
Today I start chemo. In 3 hours, I will be in my oncologist's office waiting for treatment. I'm guessing I'll be there 4-6 hours. Sounds grueling, but it's the perfect chance to catch up on some neglected reading. Today is also the first time my port will be used. This will be interesting. Yesterday, I had to take two doses of steroids to help prevent any allergic reactions to the chemo drugs today. I was expecting to be wired and have insomnia, but I've felt no effects of the drugs. I actually slept well.
I plan to post again later tonight to share my first chemo experience. Thanks for your good wishes. I will feel your energy today as I enter this new phase.
