Tempe Town Lake

Most of you AZ locals already know that on July 20th our beloved Tempe Town Lake leaked its water when one of the downstream inflatable dams catastrophically failed. The city of Tempe had plans to replace the dam and construction was to begin days after the failure. Fortunately, no one was injured when the dam failed because it was around 10pm and the lake was empty. Unfortunately, many events that involve swimming, rowing, boating, etc in TTL have been cancelled. The city hopes to have it filled again for the Ironman Triathlon on November 21. Time will tell. Here are some photos of TTL from last weekend. It's so strange to see it empty.

Mill Ave bridge

This is the ramp we would walk our rowing shells down.

No water here!

Repair of the bladders. Bridgestone is sending 4 new ones from Japan as a temperary fix until the new dams can be built.

This is NOT in AZ. When we were boating on Lake Erie in Ohio, we came across this guy. The lake was so calm......beautiful day to row. I was jealous.
