"We gain strength, and courage, and confidence by each experience in which we really stop to look fear in the face....we must do that which we think we cannot."

CA - San Francisco

After visiting the parks, we drove north to San Francisco.
Golden Gate Bridge.
Peter having a moment with his new friend.
Mark & I ran a 5 mile race in Marin Headlands along the coast.  1000ft gain in first 2 miles.  There was lots of walking by all.  Pretty cold, too.  But my definition of fun!
Point Bonita Lighthouse in the Headlands.
So much to do in this recreation area and just a hop away from the city.
 You guessed it......Chinatown!
 Cablecar ride
Fort Point at the base of the Golden Gate Bridge.
We learned how to use a cannon!
 View from Fort Point
Muir Woods National Monument........the tallest trees in the world....redwoods.
This one fell down.
While in SF, we stayed in a hostel in the Marin Headlands area.
The house is 105 years old and was used by the Army as a hospital.
The location and proximity to SF was fantastic.  We met many interesting people.
Including a European couple riding their bikes from Canada to Mexico City. Wow!

This was our room.  Like our clothesline?
We did laundry the night before.
