Two days ago on Saturday, April 24, I was lucky enough to participate in a Girls on the Run 5k event. I was a running buddy to a friend's daughter. What a sweet, determined and strong 4th grade girl she is. Honestly, she didn't need much encouragement or cheer leading because she pretty much ran the whole thing at a quick clip and sprinted like a gazelle at the finish line. Wow!! I was so impressed! It's a fabulous program & event. It's designed for girls 3rd to 5th grade. It's purpose is to educate & prepare girls for a lifetime of self-respect and healthy living. It's a 10 week session where the girls meet twice a week, then celebrate their accomplishments with a 5k run at the end. I would love to get this going at my kids' school. Check them out on the web at

We had the exact same pair of running shoes...except for the size! This was not planned!

Here we are finishing our first loop.

We finished!!!! Hooray!!! The girls got cute medals. Don't you just love my crown!?! She made it especially for me!! Very sweet!

This is the group of girls from her school with their running buddies.
