Today is My Cancer-Free Anniversary

Today marks my one year anniversary of being cancer free! One year ago today I had my bi-lateral mastectomy that rid my body of cancer. What do I remember about that day? I recall having to fast after midnight the night before for a mid-morning surgery time, but then my surgery was pushed until 5pm because surgeries before mine took longer than expected. I was hungry! I also remember having a horrible male nurse and sharing a room with a woman I thought was dying from a hacking cough. Oh my! What an experience at Good Sam it was!

It's been a wild 12 months, but I've persevered.......and am stronger in so many ways. I plan to celebrate many more of these anniversaries....especially the 5 year mark which will be a huge milestone......risk of recurrence drops significantly after 5 cancer free years.

Thanks for thinking of me on this special day. Love to you all, srb
