PET Scan today

Today I had my follow-up PET scan after treatment. Pretty simple procedure......nuclear medicine is injected via IV, then I wait for 1 hour to begin glowing. Just kidding.....it takes 1 hour for it to circulate. Then I lay very still on the scanner for 15 minutes going in & out of the tunnel....almost fell asleep. My doctor will have the results later today. I expect to hear from her tonight.

I've had some discomfort in my right arm lately. I've had it before but it only lasted 24-48 hours. This time the ache has lasted longer and was keeping me awake at night. I told my doctor and she was concerned about lymphedema in my right arm where my lymph nodes were removed. I didn't have typical symptoms like swelling, but I wanted to get it checked out. I returned to the PT who I saw after my mastectomy. I saw her for the first time last Friday. She confirmed it wasn't lymphedema, but the ache was caused by nerve irritation due to radiation. Radiation made my tissues tight and has restricted my range of motion. She did a series of tests and it was so obvious how much range I lost. I didn't realize the extent of the loss. She showed me some exercises & stretches. After only two sessions with her where she massages my muscles, I've gained so much range of motion. My right arm/shoulder feels much better. I love this PT. She makes a difference in the lives of so many women with breast cancer. I'll see her for a few more weeks. I just might be ready for swimming at the Tri for the Cure next month! I might have to breast stroke it....kind of ironic! :-)

Tomorrow I am seeing a naturopath who is board certified in naturopathic oncology. I'm looking for him to guide me on diet & supplement protocol for a cancer free future. My oncologist recommended him and I know many others who he has helped. I'm anxious to see what he has to say.

Yesterday I had Herceptin #18. Only 34 to go!

My family has been sick the last few days......random throw-up, fevers and sore throats. I had the most wicked sore throat possible. I could barely swallow. It was not strep just a viral sore throat thing going around. Feeling better now, thank goodness.

On Saturday, I got on my bike for the first time since my surgery. Felt decent, but have a ways to go. It's discouraging how fast you lose your fitness level. I'll get there......praying for patience.

Stay healthy! Live BIG! Sending you my love, srb
