Home from Surgery

Surgery went well and I'm home feeling remarkable after such a major surgery. Technology is amazing. My dr used a minimally invasive procedure using the precise technology of a robot called the da Vinci. 6 small incisions in my belly were used for high def 3D cameras & tools. He cut out my tubes, ovaries & uterus then pushed them south to be removed vaginally. The surgery took about 1 hour once I was in position and sedated.

Here I am around 7am on Thursday morning. 30 minutes later I went to the OR. The gown I'm wearing has a vacuum type hose hooked to it to that blows warm air to keep me warm. It's fabulous! But it puffs me up to Pillsbury Dough Boy proportions. A funny sight!

This is around 7pm after I had my light dinner of tea and cream of wheat. I actually made a short walk down the hall and then sat in this chair for a bit.

Words can't describe my nurse but here's my best shot......funny, caring, odd, honest, blunt, competent, encouraging. I'm glad she cared for me. I'll never forget her.

It feels so good to be home and have this behind me. One more big check mark on the road to healing. I see my dr in about 2 weeks for a post-op follow-up. I have to take it easy until then...especially no lifting.
