Yucatan Adventure

My family went on a 2 week adventure in Mexico exploring the Yucatan Peninsula.
Each of us only took a carry-on roller and a backpack.  Traveling light is freeing.
We began with 3 nights on an island, Isla Mujeres.  5 miles long by 1 mile.
The beaches were beautiful.  The common way to get around is by golf cart or moped.

Next we moved on to a resort south of Cancun, but north of Playa del Carmen.  We attend Sunday mass (in Spanish, of course) at a church in Playa that embraced an "open air" construction and it poured rain during the service.....pretty wild.

We played many games of Uno!
Our first Mayan ruin, Tulum, along the coast.
 Snorkeling
 Zoo experience...........Crocodile Mark.
 Brave Lois
Puerto Moreles to snorkel again on the 2nd biggest reef in the world.

Windy......good thing we just finished snorkeling.
We enjoyed some wonderful food.  Love the civiche.
Live entertainment during lunch.....he made this harp himself. Wow!

Cenote (sinkhole) in Valladolid.

Convent in Valladolid

Chichen Itza Mayan ruins

500+ year old Cathedral in Merida.....oldest in North America

Snack in the town square outside of the cathedral.

Uxmal Mayan ruins.

We were able to climb to the top of the Great Pyramid.

Kids look like ants on pyramid.

Packed and ready to return home.
4 hour drive to Cancun airport in our rental car.....a Dodge Journey.

Great trip!!!!
