"We gain strength, and courage, and confidence by each experience in which we really stop to look fear in the face....we must do that which we think we cannot."

Show Up!

A battle we all face is simply "showing up"......trying something new, getting to the gym, registering for that race, signing up for that lesson you always wanted to learn how.....tennis, piano, archery, etc.  It's tough......I know I struggle with this at times.....like last night.  I attend an endurance swim class at the gym on Thursday nights...6:15pm.   I've made it the last 4 weeks, but not without a struggle.  It's a tough time in the evening routine....dinner, homework, exhaustion, etc.   I NEVER regret going and feel so good afterwards, but the hardest part is just "showing up".    My husband is so good about reminding me of this when I'm whining how tired I am.

Today at spin, the instructor coincidentally talked about "showing up".   "You gotta show up!!  Show up, have fun and amazing things will happen!!"   She is so right!   She played a Garth Brooks song, "Standing Outside the Fire".
Chorus:
Life is not tried it is merely survived
If you're standing outside the fire

Jump in the fire....take a risk.
Get out there and "Show up" to whatever it is that fills you up!!

One more thing.........the power of encouraging words is amazing!!!    I'm not a great swimmer, but I am getting better every week.  I'm pretty proud of how far I've come.   So last night the endurance swim coach told me what a strong swimmer I am and how smooth I am in the water......"you glide".  She thinks I could be a really great swimmer!  Wow!  I was blown away.   Her words made me feel proud, confident and happy!!

Go affirm positive qualities in someone else today.
You will make their day.
